Our trip there went fine. We bought a big piece of buffalo mozzarella on our way there driving through a little village full of mozzarella factories. I had Armando's big car which I don't like to drive at all and when we came near our apartment I really missed my little Fiat. The road taking us there was small and hilly and the parking place was really small and difficult to park in, but I managed somehow.
We had an apartment with two bed rooms. Daniele and Sofia slept in the bunk bed and Carlotta in an extra bed in our room. Outside the apartment there was a small table and a few steps away a swimming pool which was almost always empty. It was nice to have a morning swim there.
From the apartment you could walk down to the beach and of course back you had to walk uphill. Anyway we didn't need to use the car the first days there before my husband came. There was a grocery shop that you could quite easily reach by bicycle. They had good bicycles to borrow at the village with lots of gears for the steep hills.
From our beach, which wasn't the best one in the area, there were nice paths to the other beaches, so you could walk from there to the village, Marina di Camerota and as you walked you could see lovely sceneries. Next to Marina di Camerota there was a good sand beach.
Day 1.
We ate some yummy mozzarella, took a quick swim in the pool and headed down to the beach where we stayed till sunset.
The nature is so beautiful here.
Day 2
We took the trail to see the other beaches. Beautiful views!
We stopped at the beach next to Marina di Camerota. Very nice!
Then we walked to Marina di Camerota to get some lunch. We thought we could find a place with pizza slices in the centre, but there was nothing and no people anywhere. Later we found out that we had walked the wrong way because just a few meters from where we were there was the seafront full of bars, cafés and restaurants. We saw a flyer with an address to a pizzeria and started walking there following googlemaps on the phone. It was outside the center and quite a walk uphill. On our way we saw other restaurants, but they were closed. The tourist season was almost over, so lots of places already had closed. We all had got really tired and hungry by now. In the end we found the pizzeria and although it didn't look so inviting at first sight, the pizza was divine!
After a walk and an ice cream in Marina di Camerota we went back to the beach and had a beautiful walk back in the sunset.
Day 3
This day was a rainy day. We took a morning swim in the pool, but then it started raining, so we just stayed in our apartment reading books and surfing in the internet.
In the afternoon I got tired of staying inside and as it had stopped raining I decided to take a walk to the beach. Nobody was willing to come with me first, but in the end Sofia and Carlotta did. We had a nice walk, climbed on the rocks and in the end saw a lovely rainbow and also a sunset, even if the sun didn't shine today. The nature here is so beautiful, even if the weather isn't sunny. In the evening we had a pizza in a pizzeria near the apartment and after that we went to the train station in Palinuro to fetch Armando.
Day 4
Today we went towards Palinuro to a beach called Spiaggia della Marinella. There was a beach restaurant that Armando's friend had recommended to us, especially for fish lovers. We all found something good to eat there. From there we hired a pedal boat and went to Spiagga del Buondormire. Lovely water to swim in! Theres a rock called Scoglio del coniglio that looks like a rabbit.
Day 5
We took the other trail along the beach to look for new beaches. Also here we found lovely beaches. The weather was very variable. First bright sunshine and then the sky got dark and it started raining. We took shelter under the rock. After a while the sun started shining again. We spent many hours on the beach.
Day 6
We had a boat trip this day. The weather was lovely and so was our day.
We had a swim from the boat.
From the beach we walked to another beach along a not very comfortable path, especially not with beach shoes. But it was worth it. During our walk we got to know a nice couple from Cervia.
Day 7
We went to the sandy beach near Marina di Camerota today. It was Sunday and very crowded. The sea was calm today and it was a warm day. We met our new friends there.
On our way back me and Carlotta stopped to watch the sunset on our last day here. So beautiful!
On our way back to Rome we stopped in the little village Castellabate, which has become famous because it's the location of an Italian movie "Benvenuti al Sud".
It was a relaxing holiday and also nice to get all the family together before schools and work started again.
