Today we went to Hanauma Bay which is a beach where you go snorkeling. Before going there you are required to watch a video telling you how to behave there in order to preserve the coral reef. When we arrived there we noticed that, although we had many bags and lots of things with us, we had left our snorkeling equipment in our apartment! In Hanauma Bay you really have to snorkel, so we rented some masks there. This was the first time in my life I saw so colorful and beautiful fishes. It was amazing! Unfortunately I don't have an underwater camera!
Even the most common birds are colorful in Hawaii!
When we had got enough sun bathing we drove further along the coast and the sceneries were just breathtaking!
Halona blowhole lookout. When there are big waves and the tide is high it looks like a geysir. There is a hole in the rocks that shoots water up in the air. We were lucky, because the sea conditions were just right to see this phenomenon.
The Makapuu point. There is a lighhouse and a trail leading there, but we didn't walk it, we just saw it from a distance.
Quite a nice spot for wedding photos!
After these stunning views we found a lovely white sand beach called Waimanalo where we spent some time. So beautiful and there was almost no one except us.
While I'm watching and going through my photos from Hawaii I'm really surprised about how many things we did and saw each day. It's true, we didn't stay so many days, so we had little time, but we really used it and this time it was really almost necessary to have a car. All the guided trips were very expensive there and without almost any family discounts so renting a car was a really good choice for us.
So this same day, in the afternoon we walked up to the view point in the Diamond Head crater.
Beautiful views, but I was almost dying because it was warm, I had my camera bag to carry and wore sandals.
Especially climbing ut these stairs was terrible and after having seen my husband running up them it was even worse!
But once there, the view was fantastic!
When we got to our car the guy closing his kiosk for the day brought us some shave ice for free! So kind of him! This one tasted much better than the famous Matsumoto shave ice in Haleiwa and was really appreciated after the hike!
Back to our apartment. Armando went out running and the rest of us went out to do some shopping. We all found something. And although it's always summer here, they sold winter clothes in the shops.
