Week 19 - Our loquat tree

Our loquats are getting mature. It's a fruit that I have never seen in Finland, but I found the translation of their Italian name nespole and in English it should be loquat. We got the tree when it was in a pot and now it has gotten so big and robust that you can climb on it. We don't spray the tree with anything so part of the fruits have got some disease, but the good ones are very tasty and juicy.

Week 18 - Show jumping championships in Atina

The 1st of May was a Thursday, so the children had 4 days off from school. Sofia partecipated in the show jumping Championships of Central and Southern Italy in Atina, which is about 160 km from Rome. We went there on Wednesday evening and stayed together with another family in the nice B&B Le Ninfee. Three days with some rain and some sun and lots of excitement. Sofia and her pony Topaz came home with a rosette that they won as seventh prize in the 110 cm pony class.

Week 17 - Lunch in Colleferro

We had a really nice Sunday lunch with our friends in Colleferro. It was a bit far away, about 60-70 km, but the food was very good. First there was an antipasto and then they brought you two different pasta dishes. After that you could choose a meat or fish course and there was salad and french fries. Drinks were included and it cost only 10 euro per person. It's not so easy to go out with the whole family anymore. This time Sofia didn't want to come, because there was the horse fair in Rome and she wanted to go there with her friends.
My friend Pauliina from Campobasso was visiting us this week-end with her elder son and his girl friend. We went with them to the horse fair on Saturday and on their way home they had lunch with us in Colleferro, which is on the way to Campobasso. A nice week-end!

Week 16 - Easter show jumping

This time we spent our Easter at Sofia's show jumping competition. It was a part of the Spring Tour which includes 7 days of competitions, so that's why she partecipated, although it was Easter. Luckily it went very well, so it was worth it. She won the second prize!
This meant we didn't have our traditional egg hunt and other small Easter traditions, but we did the best of it anyway. We were three families in the same situation, so everyone brought something to eat and drink and we found a table with chairs where we could eat and had our Easter lunch at the competitions. Sofia had her competition first thing in the morning, wo when it was lunch time she could relax, while the two other girls had their class after lunch. It went well for everyone.

Week 15 - Daniele's birthday

On the 8th of April it was Daniele's birthday. He is 16 now! We had pizza and a cake at home to celebrate his birthday. He got some money from us and my parents because he is saving to buy himself a computer.

Spring barbeque party

We had our traditional spring barbeque party in our garden on the 13th of April. I'm so glad I organized it and that everyone was able to come. It really feels like spring now! There was lots of good food, lots of laughs, Fabio's home made laurel liquor, Annika's potato salad, Kirsi's cake, Carlotta and Irene making bracelets to everyone, the sun shining and of course lots of photos taken.
