New eyeglasses - What a difficult choice!

Time to buy new glasses. I have had my glasses for ages already and now it was really time to buy new ones, as my eyesight has changed a bit. I find it really difficult to choose the right eyeglass frames. What makes it even more difficult is that you have to try them on without your glasses and that means you don't see as clearly as usual. I had postponed it for quite a while, but now it was my birthday, so it was a perfect day to get new glasses. Carlotta came with me and we tried lots of glasses till we both were quite tired. In the end I made my choice with the help of Carlotta and in a few days I had my new glasses. Oh, how the world is much brighter and clearer now! This week I will get my new sunglasses too.

Week 23 - Last school days and Carlotta's gymnastics show

This week was the last week of school and Carlotta had a gymnastics show at school on the last school day. Summer has come now and it was a really warm day. We said bye and happy summer to everyone and they got their summer books (no vacation without home work here in Italy). Then me and the girls were off to Atina where Sofia partecipated in the Regional Show Jumping Championships. We had a good time, although the competitions didn't go well this time.

Week 22 - First time at the beach

On Monday me and Carlotta went to the beach for the first time this year. Until now the weather had been quite cool and on the warmer days we hadn't had time to go to the beach. It was nice to feel the warm sand under the toes. The water was quite cool and it also was windy, so I didn't feel like going swimming, but Carlotta did. I relaxed a bit with a book and we had a nice afternoon.

Week 21 - Piazza di Siena

This week-end we went to Piazza di Siena in Villa Borghese in the centre of Rome where an important show jumping competition is held every year in May. This was the first time we went to see it. There were riders and horses from Sweden, Canada, Germany and so on and even two from our riding school had made it to the young rider's classes. We didn't see them though, because their competition was so early in the morning. It was a nice day out in the sun.
In the mean while my husband was coming home from Faenza where he had partecipated in a 100 km run from Florence to Faenza. Everything went well and he made it to the finishing line. We had a pizza meal at home in the evening.

Week 20 - A beautiful sunset

We don't live far away from the sea, but I hadn't been there to see a sunset for a long time. Sunsets by the sea are so beautiful. On Friday evenings we often go out eating with the girls after our riding lessons. This Friday we went to Ostia. We wanted to eat at Mc Donald's, but the one at the port of Ostia closed early, so we just watched the sunset and I took lots of photos of Sofia and her friend. They approved only one or two of them, so I'll just put one of the sea and the sunset here.
