Spring week-end in Prague

One of the positive things of my husband's marathon madness that has struck him about a year ago is that we get to see new places. Prague is a city I had wanted to visit a long time already and now in May we finally went there. We arrived late on Friday evening and left very early on Monday morning. The marathon was on Sunday morning, which meant that Armando didn't want to tire himself too much on Saturday and also that he was quite nervous before the marathon. He also had suffered from a tendonitis lately, so he was afraid not being able to finish the marathon. He wanted to pick up his race pack first thing in the morning, but we convinced him to visit the Charles bridge first as I knew it would fill up with tourists later on (and already had when we got there). Then we went up to the castle and saw the St. Vitus Cathedral. At this time the children were hungry and Armando eager to get his race pack, so everyone was a bit nervous. Sofia wanted to have a sandwich at Subway and me and Daniele wanted to take a hot dog in one of the street kiosks. In the end everyone got what they wanted. The hot dog was very good and big and the sausage inside it really tasty. For the race pack we had to take a tram. The rest of the family signed up for the family mini marathon of 4,2 km.
After that we went to see the old town and the lovely old town square with the astronomical clock and the beautiful houses.

Next day Armando left early to run his marathon and we left a bit later. Our run started at 9,30. We managed to run all 4,2 km. Without any training it meant very sore legs for me for the following days. Also Armando managed to finish the marathon and in the afternoon we had a well deserved meal at Starometzska Restaurace at the Old Town Square. My friend, whose mother is from Prague had recommended it and it was very nice! Armando went to our apartment to rest and me and the children went to do some shopping in the shopping street around the Wenceslas Square.
The weather was a bit rainy during the week-end, but it was mostly very slight rain, so you didn't even need to open the umbrella all the time. On Sunday morning it was sunny.

Photo challenge - Pink/Home

Last week-end we went to Prague. What a beautiful city! Here are a few photos from Prague for the Nurture Photography challenge. The prompt was Pink/Home. I'll tell and show more about our week-end later.

Photo challenge - Ivory/Dream

I was late posting last week's prompt for the Nurture Photography challenge, which was Lilac/Flowers. I took a couple of photos with that prompt in mind, though, so I will post them here. Lilac flowers in our garden.

This week's prompt is Ivory/Dream. Here's my contribution. A photo taken of Carlotta and Sofia at the beach against the setting sun. The colour of the beach and the sky became ivory and also a bit dreamish.

Week 18 - The beach season has started

We went to Armando's cousin's son's confirmation on the 1th of May. These celebrations are a good opportunity to meet his relatives who live at the opposite side of Rome. It's like living in another city considering the traffic here in Rome, so we really don't meet often. - This year we don't get any apricots, but we are going to get lots of "nespole". It's a fruit that I never have seen in Finland and I don't know what it's called in other languages than Italian. They are yellow, look a bit like prunes and are very succulent. Soon they will get ready! - Carlotta had her riding lesson and was happy as she trotted on her own with the nice pony Morositas. Carlotta thinks he is a bit too lazy, though. - On Saturday when all the home work was done we went to the beach and Carlotta and Sofia had their first swim in the sea and bought their first "grattachecca" which is crushed ice with syrup that you get in different tastes. - I tried to be creative and started to do a necklace, but in the end I only made a pair of ear rings. They are fastly made. Waiting for more inspiration to do some other summer jewellery. - -We picked our first "nespole" from our tree on on the week-end.

Week 17 - The barbeque season has started

Week 17 - Tuesday after school Sofia had lunch with her class mates at Mc Donald's. I went there with Carlotta and Daniele to have and ice cream and pick her up. On Thursday we invited our friends for a barbeque in the garden as it was a national holiday here - Italian's liberation day. It was really nice to see everyone after lots of time and of course the meat, wine and the cakes we ate were delicious! It was a beautiful day and we sat in the garden with our wine glasses until it got dark. The warm days are here and Carlotta enjoys watering the flowers, the grass and herself. On Satuday and Sunday me and Sofia had show jumping competions. My first day went well and we got fourth prize.
