On the Valentines's week-end we went for a little trip to Terni, a small town in
Umbria.
Our week-ends nowadays follow our sport interests, either horses
for us girls, running for my husband or football for Daniele and my
husband. Lately all our travels have been made because of the marathons and so was this. We stayed one
night in a nice holiday apartment in a small village called Ferentillo.
That's were the marathon started and it was a nice choice also for
staying overnight. I love these small villages in Italy. We had a very nice and big apartment.
Daniele
didn't come with us this time because he was in Austria. He had been
invited to stay a week there with his Finnish friends. Very nice for
him!
We went to see the Cascata delle Marmore, one of the highest waterfalls in Europe. Very beautiful.
Below a little church in Ferentillo there is a tiny museum of mummies. Here you can read more about it. We saw only the entrance of it with a few of the mummies and some skulls, as we had finished our cash and you couldn't pay the entrance by credit card.
On Sunday Armando's marathon started in the morning in Ferentillo.
The arrival was in Terni, so we went there in the morning before the marathon started as they were going to close the road leading to Terni because of the marathon. We walked around in the old part of Terni which was very nice. There was a chocolate festival going on, so we tasted different chocolates and bought some. The weather was sunny and nice all week-end.

Spring is coming fast
Our apricot tree is blooming. So beautiful - the first signs of spring! It's really nice that days are getting much longer already, but in a way I feel that spring is coming too fast. I have hardly seen any snow yet this year and would like to go skiing with the girls. This year Daniele went on ski holiday on his own and my husband isn't interested at all. He is too much in for his marathons and doesn't have time for anything else. But maybe I'll go skiing a few days with the girls. There still is snow in the mountains near Rome.

Week 6 - Rain and sun
This week there were both rainy and sunny days. Me and Carlotta managed to go out for a walk and Carlotta took her bicycle.
Sofia caught the flu and had some fever in the end of the week.
I partecipated in a dressage competition at our riding school on Sunday. The day started rainy and windy, but it got better in the afternoon.

Week 5 - Raining and raining
This week was very rainy and the worst day was on the 31th when lots of houses and streets in our part and other parts of Rome got flooded. Fortunately we didn't get any water inside our house, but I was quite worried until it finally stopped raining for a while after two days. The pumps and the valves we have installed worked, but when the electricity went off for a few hours I was quite afraid. As our bedrooms are in the basement I'm always nervous when it rains a lot. The schools were even closed on the 1st of February to check that the rain hadn't caused any damage in any of them.
On the picture it had stopped raining for a few minutes and we went out to see how much water there was in the street in front of our house.

2013 in review
A bit late, I know, but here's my year 2013 in review. I started making these photo collages in the beginning of the year and was going to post them every month. Well, I finished them now. I got the collage template from this blog.
